CADA - Centre Against Domestic Abuse
CADA works with women, children, young people and others affected by Domestic and Family Violence in the Moreton Region. Last year we supported over 18,000 people. CADA works from a feminist framework. We understand domestic and family violence (DFV) is a social issue. We work with a gender view focussed on the power and control dynamics in relationships. We believe in the equality of all people regardless of gender, race, ability, class or sexuality. We understand the importance of change on a systemic level as well as an individual level. We encourage a high degree of participation and collaboration with our clients. We acknowledge our clients’ rights to make their own decisions and their expertise in their own lives.
What are we doing?

The Moreton Multicultural Unique Mums (MMUMs) project

The Moreton Multicultural Unique Mums (MMUMs) project builds upon three previous, short-term initiatives delivered by CADA in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Participants include women from refugee and migrant backgrounds in Moreton who are pregnant or caring for children under 12. Currently, women with 12 cultural backgrounds including women from African, Asian, European and Oceanian nations form the ongoing MMUMs project. The three short pilots, 3 months, 6 months and 6 months respectively have continued to connect, support and grow and sustain. The funding will be used to enable the continuation and development of the project to strengthen and be evaluated as a targeted DFV project. There is no funded culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) or resettlement services in Moreton.
